I have a white mark on my dining room table. Is there a product I can use to remove it?
Generally speaking a white mark is caused by heat damage and the table will need to be stripped back, re stained and repolished. Once we have seen the damage we can confirm what is required.
I am claiming for damage to my furniture. Do you provide insurance quotes?
Yes, we are more than happy to provide insurance quotes. If you can supply us with a contact name and claim number, we will liaise directly with your insurance company or appointed assessor to make the process as smooth as possible.
Do you recommend any products for keeping my furniture looking its best?
A well-finished lacquered or painted piece doesn’t require a lot of maintenance — simply wipe it down weekly with a soft, damp cloth to keep it clean.
To help nourish and protect the timber, we recommend a monthly polish using a good-quality, non-silicone-based furniture wax. We use Mirotone Spray Glow, which is easy to apply and leaves a beautiful, soft sheen without damaging the finish.

My table has a veneer finish. Can this be restored?
Yes — as long as the veneer is still intact, it can usually be restored. Veneer requires a more delicate approach than solid timber, as the top layer is thin and needs careful handling during sanding and refinishing.
Once we’ve assessed the condition of the veneer, we can advise on the best restoration method to ensure a quality, long-lasting result while preserving the integrity of the piece.

I have several pieces of furniture and want to tie them all together with a common colour, is this possible?
Yes, it is possible to tie several pieces of furniture together using a common colour. However, the level of uniformity we can achieve depends on the types of wood and their current finishes, as different woods absorb stain and polish differently. We’re happy to discuss your pieces with you and give you a realistic idea of the results you can expect.
How long will I be without my furniture?
Depending on the piece we’re working on, it’s usually a maximum of two weeks. We don’t collect your furniture until we’re ready to begin work, so you won’t be without it for any longer than necessary.
Do you build custom furniture?
While restoration is at the heart of what we do, A1 Furniture also undertakes select custom furniture projects. From time to time, we create bespoke pieces for clients seeking something unique or tailored to a specific space.
Each custom piece is built with the same attention to detail, quality materials, and craftsmanship we bring to all our restoration work. Our focus is on creating furniture that is not only visually striking, but also practical and made to last.
If you have a special project in mind, we’d love to discuss your ideas and explore how we can bring your vision to life.
